The 15th SSAA
Primary Schools' Cross-Country Championships will take place at Kirkcaldy
High School, Dunnikier Way, Kirkcaldy, Fife on Saturday, 27 April
2002.
AGE GROUPS
The event is only open to Primary
school pupils in Primary 6 and Primary 7. No-one in Primary 5 or First
Year of Secondary education is allowed to run. Please remember to include
the dates of birth (DoB) of your runners when you fill in the entry
form.
ENTRIES
Each school may only enter one team per
race (not boys and girls combined). Five runners may be nominated for each
team, all of whom may run on the day, but only the highest placed three
runners will count for team awards. If a school does not have enough
competent runners to enter a team, on or two individual athletes may be
entered. However, if a school wishes to enter a team but does not have
three runners born int he same age group, then a P6/P7 combined team (boys
and girls separately) may be entered to run in the Primary 7
race.
Only pupils who have experience of running the Championships
distance (1600m) shoudlb e considered for entry. Only pupils whose names
are in the programme may run on 27 April - no substitutes are allowed on
the day. The closing date for entires is Wednesday,
3 April 2002. This date will be during your Easter holidays.
Please ensure that your entry is posted before the school goes on holiday.
Sometimes teachers return from holiday to find their entry still in the
school and too late for the closing day. No pupil may compete in both the
Secondary Schools' Cross-Country Championships on 9 March and in the
Primary Schools' even on 27 April. Spiked shoes are not allowed -
nor are spiked shoes minus the spikes, heavily sutdded football boots or
rugby boots. All footwear will be checked on the day.
ENTRY
FEES
£8.00 per team; £2.50 per individual. (This does not mean
£2.50 for ever individual in the team, it means £2.50 for individual
runners if a team is not entered.) There is no affiliation fee.
Cheques/Postal Orders should be made payable to "The Scottish Schools'
Athletic Association" or "SSAA".
AWARDS
The winning
team in each race will recieve a trophy, to be kept for one year. Members
of the first three teams in each race wil receive SSAA
medals.
OFFICIATING
In order
to ensure that the event runs as smoothly as possible, all schools are
asked to provide an adult willing to officiate on the day. No experience
is necessary. The name of the accompanying adult must be given on the
entry form.
THE CLOSING DATE FOR
ENTRIES IS WEDNESDAY, 3 APRIL 2002. PLEASE ENCLOSE A STAMPED ADDRESSED
ENVELOPE FOR CONFIRMATION OF ENTRY. LATE ENTRIES CANNOT BE
ACCEPTED.
