ENTRIES

A school may submit up to eight named runners per age group, of whom all eight may run, with four to count for team places. Athletes may only compete in their own age group. Each school may eneter only one team per age group, except in exceptional circumstances, when a 'B' team may be entered. 'A' and 'B' teams are not interchangeable.

Entry is free for 2002 only. This is because the 2001 Championships were cancelled and entry money was not refunded.

Late entries cannot be accepted. Receipt of entries (including maps of the course) can only be guaranteed if a stamped addressed 9" x 4" envelope is enclosed. If receipt of entry is not acknowledged by Wednesday, 20 February, please contact Miss MacMaster - telephone 01466 793433. Incomplete or incorrect entry forms will be considered void, if changes cannot be made before the closing date.

Each entry form MUST include the name of the accompanying adult who may be asked to officiate.

AWARDS

The winning school in each race will receive a trophy to be kept for one year. Counting memebers of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams in each race will receive medals. The first three finishers in each race will also receive medals.

INTERNATIONAL

After the Championships, the U/15 and U/17 International Boys and Girls teams will be selected to run in Derbyshire, England on Saturday, 23 April 2002.

OFFICIATING

In recent years, there has been a shortage of Competitors' Stewards at the Cross-Country Championships. Too few schools are willing to nominate a member of staff prepared to officiate and the responsibility of providing officials falls upon the same schools, every year, while other schools do nothing to help. Being a Competitors' Steward is actually a very rewarding job and requires no expertise or knowledge of Cross-Country.

If every schoo entering a team were to supply an official (not necessarily a member of staff) then the Championships would run more smoothly. Your school is therefore invited to nominate one representative to assist. Tea and coffee are provided before the Championships and a meal is served at the end.

Even if your school declines to nominate an official, it is essential that pupils do not arrive at the Magnum unsupervised. The name of the accompanying adult must be filled in on the Entry Form and if there are not enough officials, this nominated adult will be asked to help.
