Joint Track & Field Championships
Friday 14
June at 11.00 am
& Saturday 15 June 2002at 10.00 am
Grangemouth
Stadium
| The
completed entry forms, together with the appropriate entry fees (£2.50 per
competitor, per event) should be sent to Linda Trotter. Entry forms should
arrive no later than Wednesday, 22 May
2002 but earlier posting would be appreciated. Late entries
cannot be accpeted. A stamped addressed envelope should be included with
entry forms, which will be returned with final instructions and the event
programme once all entries have been
received. If receipt of your entry has not been acknowledged by
4 June, please contact Linda Trotter immediately. Cheques or Postal Orders should be made payable to "The Scottish Schools' Athletic Association" or "SSAA". Some schools have been having difficulty in obtaining cheques for entry fees, from their Council or Region, in time for the entry date. It is essential that entry forms are received in time. Cheques can follow later. Please, if this situation applies to your school, make sure that a photocopy of your entry form is sent to Linda Trotter by 22 May. All entry forms which have been clearly titled Friday or Saturday, and are in joint age groups, must be compelted in full. The space for the name of the shcool must be filled in on each form for which there are competitors. Please use BLOCK CAPITALS when filling in the forms and CHRISTIAN NAMES, rather than an initial, should be included. AGE GROUPS: All age groups are taken as at 1 September 2002 Group A - O/17 Group B - 15-17 Group C - 14-15 Group D - U/14 Pupils must be in Secondary school. This is the 6th Joint Boys' and Girls' Championships and it is imperative that schools are especially careful in filling in dates of birth, because if dates of birth are inaccurate, then the athlete could miss his/her event by arriving on the Saturday, only to find that the event took place on the Friday. It is also very important that athletes are entered in the correct event. For example, an athlete could be entered for Triple Jump but was expected to be entered for Long Jump and could subsequently come on the wrong day. A list of events for both days is appended. Please note that all Hammer throwers are asked to be prepared to compete at 9.00 am on Friday 14 June and that the rest of the Friday programme will start at 11.00 am. The final programme of events willb e sent to all competing schools, after 22 May, when all entries ahve been received. Schools, therefore, will not receive confirmation of their entry, untill all entries have been received and processed, after 22 May. Once again, it is essential that there are enough officials to enable the event to run as smoothly as possible. As a Schools' Association, we owe an enourmous debt to the highly qualified SAF officials who help every eyar but we must also try to ensure that there are enough Schools' officials. As well as asking for officials on the spearate form, every shcool entering an athlete MUST name the accompanying adult, who WILL be asked to officiate, IF NECESSARY. This adult does not have to be a member of the school staff but all forms must be signed by the school representative. If neither of these names is submitted on the forms then the SCHOOL'S ENTRY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. No school may enter more than two competitors in any event. The number of events for which a competitor may be entered is thus restricted: A) No pupil is allowed to compete in more than three events, over the two days B) No pupil is allowed to compete in more than two events, on one day C) No pupil may enter two events of 300m/400m and over on one day The FULL NAME, Personal Best Performance (PB) and Date of Birth (DoB) must be accurate. Each competitor in each event will be charged £2.50 - ie, an athlete entered for 100m, 200m and Long Jump will be changed £7.50, not £2.50. Field Events - Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot, Discus, Javelin, Hammer All athletes will be allowed three attempts. The best eight will be given a further three trials. Competitors in Pole Vault must bring their own poles. Athletes may use their own throwing equipment, provided that they bring a recent certificate of weight. The recognised school vest (not club vest) should be worn. SSAA International vests may be worn, if the school agrees. If there is no school vest, then a plain vest should be worn. SSAA medals will be presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed athletes in each event. Standard badges will be awarded to all pupils who equal or better the badge standard. Please inform your athletes that the responsibility of collecting a standard badge is theirs and that they should collect it as soon as possible after their event is completed. Schools' Track and Field International The 2002 SIAB Internation will take place on 20 July at Scotstoun Stadium, Glasgow. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed athletes in Group B (15-17) will be asked to fill in availability forms, although only two athletes per event will be selected. There is no O/17 Track and Field International. |
